The Nyckelviken estate with it’s 134 hectars of land is situated just 10 minutes southeast from the city of Stockholm. Nyckelvikens history dates back to the 15th century and has been visited by many great personalities and nobilities. Among them Jenny Lind who was a famous opera singer in the 19th century.  This nature reserve has many activities to offer it´s visitors and is a popular retreat from the city life.

 

Stora och Lilla Nyckelviken (Café, Conferences, Banquets and events)

The Café is situated in the main building and offers a wide variety of fresh home made pastries and a menu according to the season. It is open on weekends between 11:30 and 16:00. Along with the Café the main building and its surrounding buildings such as the Billiard wing and the gazebo also offer great locations for conferences, weddings, funerals, company dinners and more. For the more intimate gathering one can also rent “Sjövillan” by Lilla Nyckelviken situated right on the waterfront.

Farming, animals and riding

During early and late summer one can enjoy the traditional hay harvest which support all the animals during the winter season. There are sheep, rabbits, pigs, and cows gazing in the meadows and you can pick up some fresh eggs from the free raised hens. For the children there is an opportunity to ride the ponies or partake in the nature courses.

By the barns and stables the children can bring their own hot-dogs and grill on the big handmade grill.

 

The Museum

Come and explore life during different periods of time. Learn how carpets were made and what was tought in the locals school or simply learn a little more about the astounding Nyckelviken. The museum is open on Sundays 12:00 -16:00 and offers free guided tours of the main bulding and the Billiard wing.

 

The garden

In the greenhouses the Nacka municipality grows all the plants that are later placed in all the parks, round abouts and public areas throughout the municipality.

This is also were you find the wonderful garden with cultivated and medicinal herbs growing around the gravel paths. One can also find a Japanese garden, different kind of fruit trees and many other plants and flowers.

 

Summer and fall activities

During summer one finds the sun addicted Swedes on the cliffs and beaches down by the water or strolling on the many paths.  When fall arrives everyone goes to their own little secret hideaways for chantarell and porcini mushrooms.

 

Winter activities

When winter comes the children goes sledging while the parents enjoy some exercise cross country skiing. Everyone meets up at the Café for some hot chocolate and pastries or a hearty Gulasch soup.

 

How to get here

By car – Take highway 222 and exit at Nacka Centrum and turn towards Nacka strand at the round about by Nacka Forum. Then follow the sign to Nyckelviken and park on one of the three parking lots.

 

By Public transportation – hop on one of the buses by slussen (404, 409, 410 or 423) and ask the driver where to get of. For more information and time tables please visit www.sl.se
